"Kaikottikali, also known as Thiruvathirakali, is a traditional folk dance performed by Kerala maidens. It is a group dance that is mostly done during the Onam and Thiruvathira festivals. Women of all ages immerse themselves in the spirit of the event and dance with grace and elan. The Lasya, or beauty element, predominates in Kaikottikali, making it a very elegant dance form. When men participate, an element of thandava (dance to destroy the universe) is also involved. In some regions of the Malabar Area, the thandava dominating form can be seen."
