It is a diabetic complication which affects eyes. This is due to damage caused to blood vessels of the light sensitive tissue or retina. There is no symptoms at the beginning or just mild vision problems. Later, it can lead to blindness. Anyone with type 1 or type 2 diabetics can get affected by this condition. The longer you have diabetics and the lesser you control the blood sugar, there is high chances to develop this medical situation. As the condition progress, floaters, which are spots or dark strings floating in your vision can be seen, blurred vision, fluctuating vision and finally vision loss. With time, too much sugar in blood can lead to blocks in tiny blood vessels that nourish retina cutting off its blood supply. This results in eye attempting to grow a new vessel. But they can't develop properly and can have leaks. This condition is of two types: Early and Advanced. The complications include vitreous haemorrhage, retinal detachment, glaucoma and blindness.
