Sheethankan Thullal

In Kerala, India, Sheethankan Thullal is a dance and poetic performance form. This is one of Kerala's three major thullal varieties. Ottan Thullal and Parayan Thullal are two others. This dance is done at a very slow pace. It prioritises gesticulations over vocal actions. Sheethankan Thullal is usually performed at midnight. It can, however, be performed during the daytime without the use of any stage lighting. The performance should require at least three people. One will be in charge of staging the performance, while the others will be in charge of playing musical instruments. Sheethankan thullal was discovered by famous Malayalam poet Kunchan Nambiar in Ambalappuzha.
