Animal Biotechnology

Animals have an important role in developing new vaccines. The most common animals used for vaccine safety testing are pigs, monkeys, rats and so on. These animals can be used as genetically engineered animals for their use in agriculture or pharmaceuticals. Human insulin was originally extracted from the pancreases of slaughtered pigs and cows. Animal biotechnology also helps in improving animals and animal products. Processed cheese, beer, wine etc. are some of the examples in biotechnology. Biotechnology is the area of research and study of living organisms and their products. It has significant use in our day to day life. Red biotechnology is the field of developing pharmaceuticals including vaccines. Green biotechnology is used for the research in agricultural products. Biotechnology gave rise to use of microorganisms in milk and milk products. Bioweapons, which are used to cause diseases and toxins are also included in this field.
