Worse Vs Worst - 02

Images | English

The comparative and superlative forms of the adjective bad are worse and worst. When comparing two things, the word "worse" should be used. Objects, places, people, ideas, and so on can all be included. The word "worst" should be used to describe something that is inferior to a number of other things. Worse is derived from the Old English word werran, which means "to entangle, compound." Compounding means to add to something, so if you add problems, complications, or anything else that entangles to a situation, it will only get worse. Remember that worse is used to compare two things, such as "now" and "before," whereas worst is used to compare three or more things, such as "now" and "before." It could be worse than yesterday, but it isn't the worst cold you've ever had.
