The goal of World Post Day is to raise awareness of the postal sector's importance in people's and businesses' daily lives, as well as its contribution to countries' social and economic development. The celebration encourages member countries to participate in programme activities that raise public and media awareness of their Post's role and activities on a national scale. Every year, more than 150 countries mark World Post Day in various ways. World Post Day is a working holiday in some countries. Many Posts take advantage of the occasion to introduce or promote new postal products and services. Some Posts also use World Post Day to recognise and reward their employees who provide excellent service.
