World Ozone Day - 07

Images | English

The ozone layer, a delicate gaseous shield, shields the Earth from the sun's harmful rays, helping to preserve life on the planet. The phaseout of controlled uses of ozone depleting substances, as well as the reductions that have resulted, have not only aided in the protection of the ozone layer for current and future generations, but have also aided in global efforts to combat climate change; additionally, it has protected human health and ecosystems by limiting harmful ultraviolet radiation from reaching the Earth. Every year on September 16th, World Ozone Day is commemorated to raise public awareness about the ozone layer's depletion and possible solutions for its preservation. On this day, people from all over the world hold ozone layer talks and seminars. Students are taught about the benefits of the ozone layer by educators, and special events and activities are held to raise awareness.
