What the New Years of India Mean

The New Year is the day that marks the end of the previous year and commences the time at which a new calendar year begins. Celebration of the event of new year worldwide is according to the Gregorian Calendar which is the most broadly used and accepted calendar. Although, there are people from around the world who spend new years after or before the Gregorian New Year, because of the culture or system of beliefs they follow therefore there are not just one but many days throughout the year that are celebrated as the New Year’s. For India, as diverse as it can get, the country celebrates new year throughout the year where different communities follow different timelines through the Solar Calendar such as for Kerala, Vishu is observed and celebrated; Baisakhi is observed in Northern Centra India, Odia Nababarsa in Odisha, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu and Poila Boishakh in Bengal to name a few.
