Presentations | English

The planet keeps nudging us with increasingly extreme droughts, reminding us that water is life. Water covers over 70% of the Earth’s surface and is a very important resource for people and the environment. Water pollution affects drinking water, rivers, lakes and oceans all over the world. This consequently harms human health and the natural environment. All living beings depend on this essential resource. Water pollution is the release of pollutants like chemicals and other wastes into the subsurface of groundwater or into lakes, streams, rivers, estuaries and oceans and pollute them. Water bodies can be polluted by a wide variety of substances, including pathogenic microorganisms, putrescible organic waste, plant nutrients, toxic chemicals, sediments, heat, petroleum(oil), and radioactive substances. The main sources of pollution are all resulted from the disposal of chemical substances coming from medical, industrial and household waste, chaotic agricultural fertilizers disposal and accidental oil spills that pollute the water to a large extent.
