Vishu

Vishu is a Hindu festival that takes place in Kerala, India. Every year, on 14 or 15 April, it falls in the middle of April on the Gregorian calendar. Family time is important throughout the holiday, as is creating colourful auspicious objects and viewing them early thing on Vishu day (Vishukkani). Malayalees are particularly interested in seeing the golden petals of the Indian laburnum (Kani Konna), as well as money, silver, fabric, mirrors, rice, coconut, cucumber, fruits, and other harvest products. The day is also marked by children's fireworks displays, the wearing of new garments, and the consumption of a Sadhya feast. Elders in Kaineettam give children a little bit of pocket money.

ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഹൈന്ദവ ആഘോഷമാണ് വിഷു. എല്ലാ വർഷവും ഏപ്രിൽ 14 അല്ലെങ്കിൽ 15 തീയതികളിൽ ഗ്രിഗോറിയൻ കലണ്ടർ പ്രകാരം ഏപ്രിൽ പകുതിയോടെയാണ് ഇത് വരുന്നത്. വർണ്ണാഭമായ മംഗളകരമായ വസ്തുക്കൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതും വിഷു ദിനത്തിൽ (വിഷുക്കണി) അതിരാവിലെ കാണുന്നതും പോലെ അവധിക്കാലത്തിലുടനീളം കുടുംബ സമയം പ്രധാനമാണ്. ഇന്ത്യൻ ലാബർണത്തിന്റെ (കണി കൊന്ന) സ്വർണ്ണ ഇതളുകളും പണം, വെള്ളി, തുണിത്തരങ്ങൾ, കണ്ണാടികൾ, അരി, തേങ്ങ, വെള്ളരി, പഴങ്ങൾ, മറ്റ് വിളവെടുപ്പ് ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ കാണാൻ മലയാളികൾക്ക് പ്രത്യേക താൽപ്പര്യമുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികളുടെ കരിമരുന്ന് പ്രയോഗം, പുത്തൻ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ ധരിക്കൽ, സദ്യ കഴിക്കൽ എന്നിവയും ഈ ദിവസം അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. മുതിർന്നവർ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് അൽപ്പം പോക്കറ്റ് മണി നൽകുന്നു.
