1967-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ അരക്കില്ലം എന്ന മലയാളം ചിത്രത്തിലെ മനോഹരമായ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് “വിരാഹിണി”. പിന്നണി ഗായകൻ ഗാനഗന്ധർവൻ കെ ജെ യേശുദാസാണ് ഈ ഗാനം ഒരുമിച്ച് ആലപിച്ചത്. വയലാർ രാമവർമയാണ് ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ വരികൾ എഴുതിയത്. ഈ ഗാനം ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയത് സംഗീത സംവിധായകൻ ജി.ദേവരാജനാണ്. ചലച്ചിത്ര അഭിനേതാക്കളായ സത്യൻ, ശാരദ, മിസ് കുമാരി, അടൂർ ഭാസി, പോൾ വെങ്ങോല, കടുവാക്കുളം ആന്റണി, കോട്ടയം ചെല്ലപ്പൻ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്.
