Navodaya Appachan directed and produced Maamaankam, a 1979 Indian Malayalam-language historical drama film produced by Navodaya Studio. It is based on the mediaeval Mamankam festival, which takes place every 12 years on the banks of the Bharathappuzha River in Tirunavaya, India. Prem Nazir, Jayan, Jose Prakash, and Alummoodan star in the film, which was written by N. Govindankutty. K. Raghavan composed the film's music. Raghavan Master, also known as K. Raghavan, was a Malayalam music composer. Raghavan is often credited with the renaissance of Malayalam film music, alongside G. Devarajan, V. Dakshinamoorthy, and Baburaj. He is credited with being the first to provide Malayalam film songs with their unique tunes and styles. Malayalam film songs had previously been set to the strains of popular Hindi and Tamil film songs as well as traditional classical kritis. Raghavan offered a fresh direction and identity to Malayalam film music. He was active in the Malayalam film business for about four decades and composed around 400 songs in Malayalam cinema. In 1997, he received the J. C. Daniel Award, the highest honour bestowed by the Kerala government for contributions to Malayalam cinema.
നവോദയ സ്റ്റുഡിയോ നിർമ്മിച്ച 1979-ലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ മലയാളം-ഭാഷാ ചരിത്ര സിനിമയായ മാമാങ്കം നവോദയ അപ്പച്ചൻ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്യുകയും നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തിരുനാവായയിലെ ഭാരതപ്പുഴയുടെ തീരത്ത് 12 വർഷത്തിലൊരിക്കൽ നടക്കുന്ന മധ്യകാല മാമാങ്കം ഉത്സവത്തെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ളതാണ് ഇത്. എൻ.ഗോവിന്ദൻകുട്ടിയുടെ തിരക്കഥയിൽ പ്രേം നസീർ, ജയൻ, ജോസ് പ്രകാശ്, ആലുംമൂടൻ എന്നിവർ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. കെ.രാഘവനാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ സംഗീതം ഒരുക്കിയത്. കെ. രാഘവൻ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന രാഘവൻ മാസ്റ്റർ ഒരു മലയാള സംഗീതസംവിധായകനായിരുന്നു. ജി. ദേവരാജൻ, വി. ദക്ഷിണാമൂർത്തി, ബാബുരാജ് എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര സംഗീതത്തിന്റെ നവോത്ഥാനത്തിന് രാഘവൻ പലപ്പോഴും അംഗീകാരം നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. മലയാള സിനിമാ ഗാനങ്ങൾക്ക് തനതായ ഈണങ്ങളും ശൈലികളും നൽകിയ ആദ്യ വ്യക്തി എന്ന ബഹുമതി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുണ്ട്. മലയാളം ചലച്ചിത്രഗാനങ്ങൾ മുമ്പ് ജനപ്രിയ ഹിന്ദി, തമിഴ് ചലച്ചിത്രഗാനങ്ങളും പരമ്പരാഗത ക്ലാസിക്കൽ കൃതികളും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. രാഘവൻ മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര സംഗീതത്തിന് ഒരു പുതിയ സംവിധാനവും ഐഡന്റിറ്റിയും വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തു. ഏകദേശം നാല് പതിറ്റാണ്ടോളം മലയാള സിനിമയിൽ സജീവമായിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം മലയാള സിനിമയിൽ നാനൂറോളം ഗാനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഈണം നൽകി. 1997-ൽ, മലയാള സിനിമയ്ക്കുള്ള സംഭാവനകൾക്ക് കേരള സർക്കാർ നൽകുന്ന പരമോന്നത ബഹുമതിയായ ജെ സി ഡാനിയേൽ അവാർഡ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചു.
