Vathilkkal vannu maranju nilkkunnoru' is a song from the drama Samarpanam. The music was composed by K Raghavan and lyrics were written by O N V Kurup. K Raghavan is credited with being the first to provide Malayalam film songs with their unique tunes and styles. Malayalam film songs had previously been set to the strains of popular Hindi and Tamil film songs as well as traditional classical kritis. Raghavan gave Malayalam film music a new direction and identity. He was active in the Malayalam film business for about four decades and composed around 400 songs in Malayalam cinema.
സമർപ്പണം എന്ന നാടകത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് 'വാതിൽക്കൽ വന്നു മറഞ്ഞു നിൽക്കുന്നൊരു'. കെ രാഘവൻ സംഗീതം പകർന്ന ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ വരികൾ എഴുതിയത് ഒ എൻ വി കുറുപ്പാണ്. മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര ഗാനങ്ങൾക്ക് തനതായ ഈണങ്ങളും ശൈലികളും നൽകിയ ആദ്യ വ്യക്തിയെന്ന ബഹുമതി കെ രാഘവനാണ്. മലയാളം ചലച്ചിത്രഗാനങ്ങൾ മുമ്പ് ജനപ്രിയ ഹിന്ദി, തമിഴ് ചലച്ചിത്രഗാനങ്ങളും പരമ്പരാഗത ക്ലാസിക്കൽ കൃതികളും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. രാഘവൻ മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര സംഗീതത്തിന് ഒരു പുതിയ ദിശയും വ്യക്തിത്വവും നൽകി. ഏകദേശം നാല് പതിറ്റാണ്ടോളം മലയാള സിനിമയിൽ സജീവമായിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം മലയാള സിനിമയിൽ നാനൂറോളം ഗാനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഈണം നൽകി.
