Chemistry for UPSC is a highly specialised subject, and the syllabus is designed for applicants who have completed a graduate degree in Chemistry. The syllabus for this subject in the IAS exam concentrates on atomic structure and atomic structure, states of matter, various types of reactions, and so on. Each paper is worth 250 points, for a total of 500 points. These two optional papers are part of the UPSC Mains exam's nine subjective/essay papers. There is some overlap with the UPSC physics syllabus in terms of concepts. This option is available to chemists, chemical engineers, doctors and associated medical professionals, and HAZMAT specialists. Atomic structure, chemical bonding, gaseous state, and thermodynamics are all covered in Paper 1. Electrochemistry, photochemistry, chemical kinetics, organic biochemistry, main group chemistry, surface phenomena, and other topics are covered in Paper 2.
