UPSC IAS/IPS Prelims Issues on Environment Ecology, Biodiversity (1995-2018) Paper I & II

"The general issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change is a part of Prelims exam. Paper I exam is usually with duration of 2 hours and for 200 marks. In this the main topics of syllabus are current events of national and international importance, history of India and Indian National Movement, India and World Geography, Indian Polity and governance, economic and social development, general issues on environmental ecology and general science. Issues of environmental ecology quoted in the IAS/IPS syllabus, is one of the toughest section of Prelims. Large number of questions are part of the exam from this section. In the year 2014 and 2015 there were almost 25-30 questions for Preliminary exam. Topics discussed under this section are international bodies and treaties, endangered and vulnerable flora and fauna, environmental pollution, global climate change, environmental conservation and management, important national legislations and policies related to environment".
