Out of the total nine papers in the UPSC Civil Service Prelims, four papers are included in General Studies and two for optional. This subject, again, comprises of two papers. The Syllabus for CSE Prelims General Studies Paper 1 comprises of: 1. Economic and Social Development, 2. Indian polity and Governance, 3. General Science, 4. Indian and World Geography, 5. General issues on environmental ecology, 6. biodiversity and climate change, 7. Current events of national and international importance, 8. History of India and Indian national movement.
