Types of Torts

Presentations | English

Tort can be explained as an act which caused a physical damage or injury to a person, and it matters to civil wrong. Mainly three types, intentional, negligence and strict liability. Intentional is purposefully committing a wrongful act like an assault, battery, fraud, trespass or defamation. Negligence can be explained with an example, a driver driving with a speed more than the speed limit is causing an accident. The driver is aware about his duty, knowingly he increases the speed, and this activity can ruin other person's life. Strict liability is when an action results in injury of another person not purposefully but eventually. Defective product or animal attacks are events of strict liability torts. The aim of the tort law is to provide with some relief to the affected person or victim. Also, torts are differentiable from crimes, but a wrong act can be both tort and crime.
