Can you communicate in Chinese without using a translator? Computers translate languages in the same way that one language is translated into another. A translator, often known as a programming language processor, is anything that transforms code from one computer language to another. A source programme is a programme written in a high-level language. These include translations between high-level and human-readable computer languages like C++ and Java, intermediate-level languages like Java byte code, low-level languages like assembly language and machine code, and between similar levels of language on different computing platforms, as well as between any of the above. The different types of translators are Compilers, Interpreters and Assemblers. A compiler takes the entire source code and converts it to object code in one step. One instruction at a time, an interpreter converts source code to object code. It's analogous to a human translator interpreting what a person says phrase by sentence into another language as they talk. A third form of translator is the assembler. An assembler's job is to convert assembly language into object code.
