A transistor is a semiconductor device for amplifying, controlling, and generating electrical signals. Transistors are the active components of integrated circuits, or “microchips”. It regulates current or voltage flow and acts as a switch or gate for electronic signals. It consists of three layers of a semiconductor material, each capable of carrying a current. A transistor regulates current or voltage flow and acts as a switch or gate for electronic signals. Transistors are broadly divided into three types: bipolar transistors (bipolar junction transistors: BJTs), field-effect transistors (FETs), and insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). Transistors find a variety of uses like microphones, electronic oscillators, switches, most of modern electronic devices like smartphones, smartwatches etc. You can find more details about this topic in the presentation.
