Toxicokinetic

Presentations | English

Toxicokinetics is defined as the set of phenomena experienced by the toxicant from its entry into an organism to its elimination. The main differences occur in the objectives and methods of each. While pharmacokinetics studies according to pre-established protocols and indicators, toxicokinetics cannot dispose of them because toxic compounds are unpredictable. Another difference is that pharmacokinetics contribute to the definition of drug activity, while toxicokinetics seeks the effects of exposure to predict risk and tolerance. A compartmental pattern occurs when a product is not retained by any tissue and has no affinity for it, but spreads throughout the body mass. However when the product is distributed in a non-homogeneous way, more slowly and concentrating more on some tissues than on other seeds we must know that there are two or more compartments, the transit through the body of a toxic product undergoes numerous biochemical transformations absorption, distribution, fixation and excretion. These cycles are studied under the name of toxicokinetics.
