Thrissur Pooram

The Thrissur Pooram is a Hindu temple festival that takes place every year in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Every year on the Pooram (pronounced [puam]) day—the day when the moon rises with the Pooram star in the Malayalam Calendar month of Medam—it is held at the Vadakkunnathan (Shiva) Temple in Thrissur. The parade of elaborately caparisoned jumbos, traditional music ensembles, pyrotechnics, and a sea of applauding spectators are all part of the Thrissur Pooram. Thousands of 'poora premikal' or pooram lovers flood the location to watch 16 caparisoned elephants, enormous decorated umbrellas, percussion artists, dancers, and massive fireworks.
ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ തൃശ്ശൂരിൽ എല്ലാ വർഷവും നടക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഹിന്ദു ക്ഷേത്ര ഉത്സവമാണ് തൃശൂർ പൂരം. എല്ലാ വർഷവും പൂരം എന്ന് ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നത്) ദിവസം - മലയാളം കലണ്ടർ മാസമായ മേടത്തിലെ പൂരം നക്ഷത്രത്തോടൊപ്പം ചന്ദ്രൻ ഉദിക്കുന്ന ദിവസം - ഇത് തൃശ്ശൂരിലെ വടക്കുംനാഥൻ (ശിവ) ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നു. വിപുലമായി കാപാരിസൺ ചെയ്‌ത ജംബോകളുടെ പരേഡ്, പരമ്പരാഗത സംഗീത മേളങ്ങൾ, പൈറോ ടെക്നിക്കുകൾ, കൈയടിക്കുന്ന കാണികളുടെ കടൽ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം തൃശൂർ പൂരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. 16 ആനകൾ, അലങ്കരിച്ച വലിയ കുടകൾ, താളവാദ്യ കലാകാരന്മാർ, നർത്തകർ, പടക്കങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ കാണാൻ ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് 'പൂര പ്രേമികൾ' അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പൂരം പ്രേമികൾ ലൊക്കേഷനിൽ ഒഴുകിയെത്തുന്നു.
