Thrissur Pooram is the largest of all poorams in the state of Kerala. It is held on the day of Pooram in the Malayalam month of Medam. It is held at the Vadakkumnatha Shiva Temple located in the district of Thrissur of Kerala. There are several other ceremonies related with Thrissur Pooram like Kudamaattam, fire works, Madathil Varavu, Ezhunellip, Elanjithara Melam and so on. The Pooram starts with two sides namely, the Western or Thiruvambady side and the Eastern or Paaramekkavu side.
കേരളത്തിലെ എല്ലാ പൂരങ്ങളിലും വെച്ച് ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പൂരം ആണ് തൃശൂർ പൂരം. മലയാള മാസമായ മേടത്തിലെ പൂരം നാളിലാണ് ഇത് നടക്കുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ തൃശൂർ ജില്ലയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന വടക്കുംനാഥ ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലാണ് ഇത് നടക്കുന്നത്. കുടമാറ്റം, വെടിക്കെട്ട്, മടത്തിൽ വരവ്, എഴുന്നെള്ളിപ്പ്, ഇലഞ്ഞിത്തറ മേളം തുടങ്ങി തൃശൂർ പൂരത്തോട് അനുബന്ധിച്ച് നിരവധി ചടങ്ങുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. പൂരം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ തിരുവമ്പാടി വശം, കിഴക്ക് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പാറമേക്കാവ് വശം എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ട് വശങ്ങളിലാണ്.
