The Kakatiya era in the Telugu lands is known for its temple architecture. One such temple of those times is the Ramappa Temple, near the city of Warangal. This temple is more famous as a cite of spectacular architecture than as a pilgrim centre. An interesting aspect of this temple is that unlike the popular practice of naming temples after the deities or the ruler under whose regime it was built, it is named after the principle craftsman who oversaw the construction. Historical evidence states that the temple was built by the Kakatiya feudal king Recherla Rudrudu in the year 1213 AD. The temple’s construction began during the reign of Kakatiya King Rudra Deva and was completed in King Ganapathi Deva’s time. కాకతీయ రాజుల కాలపు అద్భుత కట్టడాల్లో ఒకటి రామప్ప దేవాలయం. గుడి కంటే గుడిలోని శిల్పసంపద ప్రపంచ ప్రసిద్ధి గాంచింది. అంతేకాదు. ఈ దేవాలయం ప్రత్యేకతలో మరో విశేషం గుడి కట్టించిన వారి పేరుతోనో, గుడిలోని మూలవిరాట్ పేరుతోనో ప్రాచుర్యం పొందకుండా, గుడి నిర్మించిన శిల్పి పేరుతో ప్రాచుర్యం పొందడం. కాకతీయుల సామంత రాజు రేచర్ల రుద్రుడు ఈ గుడి క్రీ.శ.1213 లో నిర్మించినట్లు శాసనాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. కాకతీయు రాజు రుద్ర దేవుడు హయాంలో ప్రారంభమై, గుడి నిర్మాణం గణపతిదేవ చక్రవర్తి కాలంలో పూర్తయిందట. గుడి శిల్పసంపద గురించి, ఆలయ నిర్మాణ వైభవం గురించి, సమీపంలో ఉన్న రామప్ప చెరువు గురించి మరెన్నో ఆసక్తికరమైన విశేషాలు ఈ ప్రదర్శనలో చేకూర్చడం జరిగింది. మరి ఆలస్యం దేనికి? వెంటనే చదివేయండి.
