The River Penna, also known as Pennar, Penner, Penneru and Uttar Pinakini, originates in the hills of Chikballapur in Karnataka, and then flows into Andhra Pradesh to eventually join the Bay of Bengal. In this three-part presentation, we bring to you the various aspects of the river, with focus on its course through Andhra Pradesh. The first part gives you details of the origins and the places through which it flows, its various tributaries and the story behind its name. The second part covers the weather conditions of the places on the banks of the river, the water quality, the various harbours and projects on the river. In the third part, we bring to you some of the prominent temples and pilgrim centres on its banks as well as the mythology surrounding them.
