situated on the banks of the Godavari River, Bhadrachalam is one of the most popular piglgrim centres in the two Telugu States. Dedicated to Lord Rama, this is the place where it is believed that Ravana kidnapped Sita. In the main temple, Sita Devi is seated on Rama's thigh, and Lakshmana stands to their left. In most temples Lakshmana stands to Rama's right and Sita Devi stands on his left. Know more about the temple, its uniqueness, the festivals conducted here and so on in this presentation. Also mentioned are interesting local legends that indicate spots where Sita was kidnapped, where Rama fought many Rakshasas and turned them to ashes, where Sita bathed, and so on. When one visits this temple, the splendour of the adjoining Papi Kondalu through which the river twists and turns to evenutally meet flatland, cannot be ignored, nor can the wildlife sanctuaries around it.
