Telugu, like many other Indian languages, witnesses sound changes at the boundaries of morphemes or words, when they are used together. For instance, when the words Ramudu and Athadu are used next to each other, in that order, they can be jointly pronounced Ramudathadu. Such an alteration in sounds is called Sandhi. This fusion and alteration of sounds at the boundaries of words or morphemes follow certain rules. This 3-part presentation brings to you in brief the various rules of Sandhi, and their explanations along with examples.
సంధి అనగా రెండు పదములు లేదా రెండు అక్షరాల కలయిక. మరి రెండు పదాలు ఎలా కలుస్తాయంటే మొదటి పదంలోని చివరి అచ్చు పోయి రెండవ పదంలోని మొదటి అచ్చు వచ్చి ఆ చోట సంధి ఏర్పడుతుంది. ఉదాహరణకు ‘రాముడు’ మరియు ‘అతడు’ రెండూ కలిపి పలికితే వచ్చే ఫలితం ‘రాముడతడు’. సంధి అంటే ఏమిటి? అదెలా ఏర్పడుతుంది? సంధి కార్యం అంటే ఏంటి? సంధులు ఎన్ని రకాలు? అవేంటి? ఇవన్నీ ఇక్కడ 3 భాగాల శ్రేణిలో తెలియబరచడం జరిగింది.
