Telemarketer - Job Descriptions

Templates | English

A telemarketer is someone who is a phone-based sales representative, working in employer call centres or for third-party call centre firms. Using leads generated through a company’s marketing department, the telemarketer’s primary role is to try and sell goods or services to ‘prospects’. Telemarketing is not necessarily illegal, and consumers often agree to such calls unknowingly, but telemarketers are bound to laws that place certain limits on how they conduct their business. Telemarketing companies typically offer on-the-job training; there are usually no set educational requirements. However, most employers require that a telemarketer have at least a high school diploma or an equivalent. Telemarketers may get a bad rap, but they are actually an instrumental part of a company’s success. If you’re interested in entering the sales field, a telemarketing job is a good place to start, especially if you’d like to gain real-world sales skills but aren’t ready to encounter prospective clients face-to-face.
