Sri Venkateswara Naatyamandali, more popular as ‘Surabhi’ is a family-run theatre based out of Hyderabad. The theatre group came into being in 1885 in a village of the same name located in the Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh. Prior to its establishment, the family had, for many generations, been involved in puppeteering and storytelling. The Surabhi group is well-known today for its adaptations of famous Hindu mythology and epic stories as well as its innovative use of technology on stage. ‘శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వర నాట్య మండలి’ లేదా ‘సురభి’ హైదరాబాద్ లోని ఒక ఫ్యామిలీ థియేటర్ బృందం. సురభి నాటిక సమాజం తొలుత 1885 వ సంవత్సరంలో ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లో కడప జిల్లాలోని సురభి అనే గ్రామంలో మొదలయ్యింది. అప్పటి వరకు వారి పూర్వీకులు తోలు బొమ్మలాట కళలో ప్రావీణ్యులు. 1885 నుండి ఈ బృందం హిందూ పురాణాలు మరియు పురాణాల కథల ఆధారంగా నాటకాలను ప్రదర్శిస్తూ, కాలానుగుణంగా మారుతూ, టెక్నాలజీని వాడుతూ బహు ప్రజాదరణ పొందుతూ, నేడు దేశవిదేశాలలో ఎంతో ఖ్యాతిని పొందింది. సురభి గురించి ఎన్నో ఆసక్తికరమైన విశేషాలు ఈ ప్రదర్శనద్వారా పొందగలరు.
