Structuralism

Documents | English

Structuralism is that the intellectual movement and philosophical orientation often associated initially with the Western discourses of Levi-Strauss, Marx, and Althusser, for instance, who claimed to investigate and explain invariant structures in and constitutive of nature, society, and therefore the human psyche. loosely, Structuralism holds that every one human action and its products, even perception and thought itself, are constructed and not natural, and specifically that everything has meaning due to the system during which we operate. Structuralism, in an exceedingly broader sense, may be a way of perceiving the globe in terms of structures Structuralists believes that the most structures which organize rules and units into meaningful systems are created by the human mind itself and not by sense perception. It tries to reduce the complexity of human experiences to certain structures, which are identified simple structures as forming the premise of life by Aristotle.
