Stage-1 of Development Cycle

Presentations | English

What is the Stage 1? It is the Being: Birth to Six Months. This first stage is about the experience of just being in the world. Developmental Tasks of the Child at this stage is: To cry or otherwise signal to get needs met, to accept touch and nurture and to bond emotionally, to learn to trust caring adults and self. To decide to live, to be. Being requires environments that are trustworthy and safe, places where our basic needs for survival and recognition are consistently and lovingly met. Returning to Being refers to getting emotionally drained, questioning our adequacy, compulsive touching or joyless sexual touching, believing others' needs are more important, and having self-doubt. When we are tired, hurt, vulnerable, ill, or under stress, during periods of rapid change growth, suffering a personal loss and when taking care of an infant or when pregnant, we will experience the significance of stage 1.
