Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple is located in Thiruvananthapuram district, the capital city of Kerala. It is considered to be the richest temple of the World. In this temple, Lord Vishnu shrine is lying in 'Anantha Shayana' posture and reclines on the serpent 'Anantha'. Architectural style is resembles both Kerala and Tamil type. Gopuram of the temple is quite famous made in Pandyan style. The name of the city 'Thiruvananthapuram' can be translated as 'City of Lord Anantha' in Malayalam reffering of Padmanabha Swamy Temple.
കേരളത്തിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിലാണ് ശ്രീപത്മനാഭ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും സമ്പന്നമായ ക്ഷേത്രമായി ഇത് കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, മഹാവിഷ്ണു ശ്രീകോവിൽ 'അനന്ത' സർപ്പത്തിന്മേൽ 'അനന്തശയന' ഭാവത്തിലാണ് കിടക്കുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വാസ്തുവിദ്യാ ശൈലി കേരളത്തിലും തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിലുമായി സാമ്യമുള്ളതാണ്. പാണ്ഡ്യ ശൈലിയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഗോപുരം വളരെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. 'തിരുവനന്തപുരം' എന്ന നഗരത്തിന്റെ പേര് മലയാളത്തിൽ 'സിറ്റി ഓഫ് ലോർഡ് അനന്തൻ' എന്ന് പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്താം.
