Socialization

Socialization, the process whereby an individual learns to adjust to a group and behave in a manner approved by the group . According to most social scientists, socialization essentially represents the whole process of learning throughout the life course and is a central influence on the behavior, beliefs, and actions of adults as well as of children. It is the process of cultural learning and social development whereby a new person acquires necessary skills and education to play regular part in a social system. This begins at birth and continues throughout life. Successful socialization enables people to fit into all kinds of social groups. Examples-socialization must occur for a high school freshman to adjust to their new situation. The three theories of socialization are Functionalists, Conflict perspective, and Symbolic Interaction.
