Sequential Logic Circuits

Presentations | English

A combinational logic circuit provide output which is not dependent on previous inputs. That is a combinational circuit produce an output which is dependent with the current input, but a sequential logic circuit gives an output with respect to current and previous inputs. The introduction of memory element makes this possible. It can store memory as binary information. Mainly there are two types of binary circuits coming to sequential circuits, they are asynchronous and synchronous. Asynchronous are the circuits whose speed of operation is mostly faster. This is done by keeping the circuits without the internal clock pulse. The thing is they are not easy to develop and provides uncertain outputs. Synchronous have a clock signal, therefore the circuit is very slow in operation. The circuit waits for the clock signal every time to have the next sequence. Examples are counters, registers, bistables, clocks, flip-flops and memories. More details are explained in the PowerPoint presentation.
