“Saw” is simply the past form of the verb ‘see’. For example, “I saw a movie last night.” On the other hand, “seen” is the past participle of the the verb ‘see’. The word “seen” always requires helping verbs such as had or have. For example, “We have seen what has happened here.” or “I had seen this movie twice last week.”
