Management is defined as the art of getting things done by making optimal use of available resources. It is the act of supervising and directing people, tasks and things. Clubbing these ideas together is called Management thought. Management theory is a collection of understandings and findings that help managers to support their teams and achieve goals. The school of management thought are theoretical frameworks for the study of management. Each of the schools of management thought are based on somewhat different assumptions about human beings and the organizations for which they work. There are different schools of management. The three main schools of management thought are Quantitative School of Management, Contingency School of Management and Contemporary School of Management. These three school of thoughts are cognitive, humanistic and behaviour. Eventhough these three schools are independent, we could find that they share many common beliefs.
