Savithri, whose devotion to her husband has been compared to Draupadi's in the Mahabharata, is desperate to resurrect her husband Satyavan. P. G. Viswambaran directed Satyavan Savithri, a 1977 Indian period drama film starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi. The film was also dubbed into Tamil and Telugu under the title Sathyavanthudu. A historical drama (also known as a period drama, costume drama, or period piece) is a film or television production set in a previous era.
