A lead is anyone who has interacted with your company. They may or may not become a customer. A qualified lead is anyone who has gone through qualifying criteria to assess their quality as a lead, their fit as a customer, and their readiness to buy. A Sales Qualified Lead involves a prospective customer who has been qualified and deemed ready for the sales team of your company to get in contact and close a sale. Ideally almost all your leads will come through marketing before they get to the sales team, that means any communication between your sales team and the lead need not be completely cold.
