ശ്രീകുമാരൻ തമ്പിയുടെ രചനയിൽ ജി.ദേവരാജൻ ഈണമിട്ട ഈ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചത് പി.ജയചന്ദ്രനും പി.മാധുരിയുമാണ്. കെ. നാരായണൻ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത് എ. രഘുനാഥ് നിർമ്മിച്ച 1973-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ"കാലചക്രം" എന്ന മലയാള ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഗാനമാണിത്. പ്രേം നസീർ, ജയഭാരതി, ബഹദൂർ, അടൂർ ഭാസി എന്നിവർ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നു. ഒരു സമ്പന്ന കുടുംബത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീ, ഒരു പ്രാദേശിക തോണിക്കാരനുമായി പ്രണയത്തിലാകുന്നതാണ് കഥയുടെ കേന്ദ്രം. അവർ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ തിരസ്കരണത്തെ അഭിമുഖീകരിച്ചു, ഒരു വലിയ നഗരത്തിലെത്തി ഒരു പുതിയ ജീവിതം ആരംഭിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു.
