Resistors

Presentations | English

What electronics use resistors? Appliances such as electric heaters, electric ovens, and toasters all use resistors to turn current into heat, then using the heat lost from this resistor to warm the surrounding area. A resistor is a passive component in a circuit which provides resistance to the flow of current. These resistors vary in their construction, power dissipation capacities, and tolerance to various parameters (such as temperature and light). They don’t have positive and negative sides — you can hook them up in either direction and they work just the same. Always read resistors from left to right. – Resistors never start with a metallic band on the left. Categorised by function, there are three types of resistors; fixed resistors, used in a electric circuit; trimmer potentiometer to adjust a circuit; variable resistor, used as a radio volume by changing the resistance.
