Reliability of Psychological Test

Presentations | English

Being reliable is a very desirable quality and this is true with psychological tests too. The term reliability in the field of psychology refers to the consistency of a research, study or measuring test. But how do researchers measure reliability especially when it is a construct like intelligence, self-esteem, depression, or working memory capacity? The answer is that they conduct tests by researching and collecting data. Psychologists consider two types of reliability – internal and external reliability. Internal reliability assesses the consistency of results across items within a test whereas external reliability refers to the extent to which a measure varies from one use to another. The more the correlation coefficient is, the more reliable the research will be. Read on to find more resources on the topic. Please see the presentation.
