Rathree Shyamalagathree' is a song from the drama Simha Nadam. The music was composed by M K Arjunan and it's lyrics were written by O N V Kurup. Malayalam film and theatre composer M. K. Arjunan was best known for his work in Malayalam cinema and Kerala theatre. He worked with Changanassery Geedha, People's Theatre, Kalidasa Kalakendram, Desabhimani Theatres, Alleppey Theatres, and KPAC after writing music for amateur productions. Arjunan went on to write over 800 songs for over 300 plays. In addition to his contributions to Malayalam literature, ONV was a prominent lyricist in the Malayalam film, theatre, and album industries. He was a part of numerous productions produced by the Kerala People's Arts Club (KPAC), which had a significant impact on Kerala's revolutionary movements.
സിംഹനാദം എന്ന നാടകത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് 'രാത്രീ ശ്യാമളഗാത്രീ'. ഒ എൻ വി കുറുപ്പിന്റെ വരികൾക്ക് എം കെ അർജുനൻ സംഗീതം പകർന്നു. മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര-നാടക സംഗീതസംവിധായകൻ എം.കെ. അർജുനൻ മലയാള സിനിമയിലും കേരള നാടകരംഗത്തും തന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിലൂടെ പ്രശസ്തനായിരുന്നു. ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി ഗീധ, പീപ്പിൾസ് തിയേറ്റർ, കാളിദാസ കലാകേന്ദ്രം, ദേശാഭിമാനി തിയേറ്റേഴ്സ്, ആലപ്പി തിയേറ്റേഴ്സ്, കെപിഎസി എന്നിവയിൽ അമേച്വർ പ്രൊഡക്ഷനുകൾക്ക് സംഗീതം എഴുതിയ ശേഷം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. 300-ലധികം നാടകങ്ങൾക്കായി 800-ലധികം ഗാനങ്ങൾ അർജുനൻ എഴുതി. മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിന് നൽകിയ സംഭാവനകൾ കൂടാതെ, ഒഎൻവി മലയാള സിനിമ, നാടക, ആൽബം വ്യവസായങ്ങളിലെ പ്രമുഖ ഗാനരചയിതാവായിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തിന്റെ വിപ്ലവ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ കാര്യമായ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തിയ കേരള പീപ്പിൾസ് ആർട്സ് ക്ലബ് (കെപിഎസി) നിർമ്മിച്ച നിരവധി പ്രൊഡക്ഷനുകളുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.
