Questioning Skills

Presentations | English

Questioning is the key to gaining more information and without it interpersonal communications can fail. It is fundamental to successful communication - we all ask and are asked questions when engaged in conversations. Questioning skills are the ability to ask questions for accessing the students during the learning process. The common questioning techniques involve the 5Ws (who, what, where, when, why) and 1H (how). A good question must be clear, relevant, concise, purposeful and guiding. It should stimulate thinking and be single-dimensional. The ability to ask or frame meaningful questions increases participation in interactions, encourage students to think better, motivates students to search for new information, arouse interest and curiosity and makes discussions more interactive.
