What does the Property Law state? Property law is the area of law that governs the various forms of ownership in real property and personal property. Property refers to legally protected claims to resources, such as land and personal property, including intellectual property. Property law, sometimes known as real estate law, deals with transactions related to residential and commercial property and covers specialist areas such as property finance, mortgage lending, or social housing. The types of rights over land as applicable in India vary in nature, such as leasehold rights, freehold rights, easement rights, development rights, and mortgage rights, among others. Property rights provide the owner with the legal ownership of a resource. This is backed and enforced by the legal system as well as the protections government provides through law and order.
