A prepositional phrase is a part of a sentence that consists of one preposition and the object it affects. The object of a prepositional phrase can be either a noun, gerund, or clause. prepositional phrases can govern more than one word—they can govern any words that modify or describe the object of the preposition, too. Some examples of preposition with ON are- On edge-My nerves are constantly on edge these days. On foot-My car broke down so I had to go there on foot. On good terms-I'm on good terms with all my colleagues.
