A prepositional phrase is a sentence fragment made up of one preposition and the object it affects. A prepositional phrase's object can be a noun, gerund, or clause. To identify a Prepositional phrase, just look out for the prepositional phrase that will always start with a preposition and end with a noun, pronoun, gerund, or clause that is the "object" of the preposition. The preposition's object will frequently have one or more modifiers to describe it. A prepositional phrase usually modifies a verb or a noun. Adverbial and adjectival prepositional phrases are the two types of prepositional phrases.
