KJ Yesudas, who has been active in the music industry for more than half a century, is the 'Dassettan' of the Malayalees and the Gana Gandharvan of the tasters. He is one of the most respected artists in Pan India. The song 'Ponnil Kulichcha Rathri' was released in 1971 by Madhu in the film 'Sindooracheppu' in the voice of Dassette and was composed by G Devarajan with lyrics by Yusufali Kechery.Apart from him, Jayabharathi, Prema and Sankaradi are the central characters in the film directed by actor Madhu. All the songs in the film were composed by G Devarajan. The film won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Second Film in 1971.
അരനൂറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെ സംഗീതരംഗത്ത് സജീവമായ കെ ജെ യേശുദാസ് മലയാളികളുടെ 'ദാസേട്ടനും' അസ്വാദകരുടെ ഗാനഗന്ധർവ്വനുമാണ്. പാൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ തലത്തിൽ തന്നെ ഏറെ ബഹുമാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കലാകാരനാണ് അദ്ദേഹം. അത്തരത്തിൽ ദാസേട്ടന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ 1971'ൽ മധു സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത 'സിന്ദൂരചെപ്പ്' എന്ന സിനിമയിലൂടെ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ഗാനമാണ് 'പൊന്നിൽ കുളിച്ച രാത്രി ', യൂസഫലി കീച്ചേരിയുടെ വരികൾക്ക് ഈണം നൽകിയത് ജി ദേവരാജനാണ്. നടൻ മധു സംവിധാനം വഹിച്ച ചിത്രത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പുറമേ ജയഭാരതി, പ്രേമ, ശങ്കരാടി എന്നിവർ കേന്ദ്ര കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളാണ്. സിനിമയിലെ എല്ലാ ഗാനങ്ങളും ജി ദേവരാജനാണ് സംഗീത സംവിധാനം വഹിച്ചത്.1971'ൽ മികച്ച രണ്ടാമത്തെ ചിത്രമായി കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഫിലിം അവാർഡ് ലഭിച്ച ചിത്രമാണിത്.
