Polymer Chemistry

Presentations | English

A polymer is any natural or artificial substance made of very large molecules or a combination of multiple times simpler chemical units called monomers. Natural polymers only have one type of monomer unit. They are classified as organic or inorganic. Plant parts such as cellulose, lignin, and resins are examples of organic materials. Proteins and nucleic acids are both polymers of amino acids and nucleotides. Diamond and graphite are examples of inorganics. Synthetics are created through various chemical reactions. Hydrocarbons such as ethylene can be converted into polyethene, a polymer composed of repeating units of ethylene monomer. The PowerPoint presentation contains interesting information about the topic. The presentation slides contain additional information on this subject. Look through this PPT.
