Presentations | English

Introducing harmful materials into the environment is simply called as pollution. Major forms are air, water, soil pollution. Noise and thermal pollution is also occuring in our environment. Air pollution happens when chemicals are released into atmosphere. Gaseous pollutants are carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs, which are produced by industry and motor vehicles. Soil pollution caused by land destruction as a result of human intervention. Over farming and overgrazing can deteriorate the quality of soil. Water pollution is a result of industrial waste, oil leakage and spills, marine dumping and sewage water. This can affect aquatic animals and hazardous to humans as well. Causes are global warming, climatic change, acid rain, eutrophication etc. Protection of environment is a long term task, which needs continuous planning, governmental policies and public participation. Implementating recycling, banning dangerous chemicals and promoting afforestation can increase the quality of life as well as decrease pollution. More information about pollution is available in the powerpoint presentation.
