Politeness

Presentations | English

Recent trends appear to indicate a deterioration in good manners. They are more than just polite social behaviour when defined as such. Good manners are a soft talent that demonstrates attention, civility, and respect for others. Being courteous entails being aware of and respecting other people's sentiments. Although we may not always perceive politeness, we are more likely to detect rudeness or inconsiderate behaviour. Always use common sense and attempt to behave as responsibly as possible while keeping cultural variations in mind. Some people have a fantastic respect for civility and a polished sense of decorum, whereas others do not. Politeness is a fundamental communication ability. Our parents educate us to say 'please,' 'thank you,' 'excuse me,' and 'I'm sorry' as soon as we start learning language. It's no coincidence that we acquire civility at such a young age.
