The study of international relations (IR) from a theoretical perspective is known as international relations theory. Realism, liberalism, and constructivism are the three most popular ideas. The contemporary theory of international relations may be traced back to realism writings like E. H. Carr's. International relations is an interdisciplinary discipline that examines themes such as human rights, global poverty, the environment, economics, globalisation, security, global ethics, and the political environment by combining the fields of economics, history, and political science. Multiple theories exist in the study of international relations that attempt to explain how nations act within the international system.
